At Believer’s Church our focus is Christ. Our message is Christ. While we fully recognize that we do have an enemy we also believe that Christ has forever overcome satan and all of his forces. Sadly, many believers do not know that everyone that believes in Christ shares in that same victory. In Christ we have authority and power over our enemy and his kingdom. We have no need to war with the devil to receive the promises of God, nor must we do battle to open up the heavens, spread the Gospel, or follow any strategies that make satan a power to be overcome rather than one that has been overcome. If Christ has overcome, then we have overcome. If Christ is above all power then believers are above all power. Everything is in Christ!

That the world is in a time of shortage and crises and many are suffering is without dispute. The answers the “experts” give for this are basic – supply and demand with associated costs, natural disasters, changing cultures, adapting marketplaces, and shrinking resources. Yet the “experts” by in large are ideologically driven rather than truth based. Behind every assumption, every model, and every theory is the theory, or better lie, of evolution! In this teaching while we examine the rule of the world, we also look at the hope and the promise for the Believer in Christ!

(This is a Wednesday night teaching but we thought it good to include it on our Sunday site!)

The Believer has power. God has invested His power in everyone that believes on the name of His Son Jesus. This is not just power for a few but for all that believe! The working of this power is dependent on our faith in Christ. If we believe that the power of God is at work within us then we can act in that very power. The great part of this is that the power of God is within the children of God and the working of that power is through faith and not according to our to how good we have been or what our place is in the Body of Christ! In Christ all always works the same - it is of Him and not of ourselves! The power of God is upon those that believe and it is His power so we can perform on His level. We have it, and we can use it to show forth His glory!

The message of Christ’s return is not simply a subject to spark prophetic discussions, it is a part of the Gospel. As part of the Gospel it has an impact on the Believer. The impact is not a legalistic fear of missing Christ but a faith building revelation of power that accomplishes a true work in every Believer. Part of this work is the immediacy of faith. With this revelation we understand that this earth is not our home and that while God will bless us and give freely to us, our affection is not for the things of this earth but on that which is eternal. All of this works to heighten our relationship with the Father and bring about in us an expectation of now that will change our life.

We move past any fear one might have over accepting that we are children of God and therefore we are like Christ. To be like Christ means so much more than being good, kind, and serving - it means that we are man and God. The children must be like the Father. This causes concern for many for they fear pride and moving into the wrong place of authority. As we will see, when one truly believes, they can never go past the supremacy of Christ. We fear the very work Christ came to do on our behalf. We move away from the plan of God thinking that by doing so we are somehow protecting and honoring God! Christ is always first and foremost and all depends on Him and is through Him and yet He is the firstborn among many just like Him.

Toward the end of the sermon “A Faith Primer” we entered into the aspect of faith in who and what Believers are - the literal children of God with all of that title’s meaning and implications. As promised today we are helping in grasping and believing this astonishing reality of life in Christ. To simply say that believers are children of God has little impact. It is just a name or title to most without any real meaning. To say God is our Father is easy, to mean it as being His true, literal child is quite another. As we are born again we should be able to understand that we are truly the children of God in substance as well as title. Though it may sound bold it is very Biblically correct that we are like Christ and therefore we are like God! Faith demands that we believe who we are in Christ. Creation waits for us to be revealed. The Gospel going forth and being witnessed is tied to the acceptance of our Sonship with the Father for how else can we do the works of Christ? Even our peace of mind is connected to believing that we are in fact the true children of God with all rights, place, and power.
